Tuan Loc Commodities (TLC) has partnered with global goods giant Nestlé to implement a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction initiative within Vietnam's coffee sector. The joint project focuses on reducing GHG emissions throughout the coffee supply chain by adopting regenerative agriculture practices. These practices include optimized fertilizer use, soil cover techniques, and crop diversification, which have been shown to improve productivity and reduce emissions.
TLC's involvement in this initiative underscores its commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. By integrating Nestlé's expertise and financial support, TLC aims to enhance the resilience of Vietnam's coffee industry against climate change while ensuring economic viability for farmers. This partnership not only contributes to environmental conservation but also supports the livelihoods of local coffee-growing communities.
Vietnamese-led company could meet the highest global standards for sustainability while competing commercially.
I started Tuan Loc Commodities (TLC) to build a more resilient and sustainable coffee export business rooted in Vietnam. I was motivated by the urgent need to help farmers adapt to climate change and to elevate Vietnam’s role in the global value chain—not just as a supplier of cheap raw materials, but as a source of traceable, quality, and low-carbon coffee.
Our partnership with Nestlé in a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction project has helped pioneer climate-smart practices in Vietnam’s coffee sector. We support farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture - intercropping, composting, precision fertilization - which reduces emissions and increases yields. On the business side, we’ve proven that sustainable coffee can also be commercially viable: in just over three years, TLC grew from a startup to one of Vietnam’s Top 3 coffee exporters by volume. This creates more market access for farmers, more transparency for buyers, and a more climate-aligned supply chain for the industry.
My time at RMIT helped shape how I think strategically and globally. The Executive MBA program gave me the tools to move from operational management to building a business with long-term vision and values.
Beyond academics, the RMIT alumni network has opened doors - connecting me with forward-thinking professionals across industries, including agritech, finance, and sustainability. Through RMIT, I’ve also had the chance to mentor students, speak at industry events, and contribute to conversations about Vietnam’s economic future. That ongoing exchange of ideas has been both energizing and instrumental in our journey at TLC.
