UNICEF NextGen Vietnam is a vibrant community of young leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals in their 20s and 30s who are passionate about advancing children’s rights. They support UNICEF’s mission in Vietnam through advocacy, resource mobilization, and creative collaborations. By leveraging their skills, networks, and enthusiasm, NextGen members help amplify UNICEF’s impact, raise awareness, and drive meaningful change for children across the country.
Understand what motivates your community, and create space for diverse forms of contribution.
As Chairperson of UNICEF NextGen Vietnam—and a parent—I’m deeply motivated by the desire to create a better world for all children, including my own. I’m driven by the urgent need to address the challenges faced by working parents and vulnerable children in Vietnam.
Through our work, we aim to bridge gaps in child protection, education, nutrition, and climate resilience. By mobilizing young professionals and partnering with UNICEF, we’re building a collaborative movement that empowers communities and ensures every child has the opportunity to thrive.
One major challenge has been mobilizing busy professionals to commit time and energy to social impact work. Many are passionate but face competing demands. To overcome this, we focused on building a flexible, purpose-driven community where members feel their contributions—big or small—truly matter. We also aligned our initiatives with their personal and professional values, making engagement more meaningful.
My advice: lead with empathy and clarity of purpose. Understand what motivates your community, and create space for diverse forms of contribution. Collaboration thrives when people feel seen, valued, and connected to a shared mission.
